OUR VALUES

  • Wildness is a Necessity

Wildness reminds us what it means to be human. It is both the trait in ourselves that we long to access, and the places we go to rediscover it. Wildness is a tonic for the spirit, a necessity for living fully and freely. For all those who have their hearts in Maine, it is more than the wilderness around us. It is a way of being true to ourselves, to one another, and to the place we call home.

  • Resilience

The women of Maine are self-reliant, resourceful, and capable. We work hard, figure things out, and get things done without pretense. Our strength is earned, our resolve is steady, and we know how to weather a storm. If there are frills, they are there by choice. Our hands are calloused, our knees are scraped, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

  • Trailblazers

Maine has always been home to women who make their own path. Strong-willed, steadfast, and guided by conviction, they stand up for what they believe in and never wait for permission to lead. We draw strength from those who blazed the trail. We stand alongside those leading today. We work to make the path wider for those who follow. As goes Maine, so goes the nation.

  • Soccer for All

We bring people together through a shared love of what this game can do, welcoming people as they are and working together to make Maine a better place for all. Maine is one big small town. Our communities are built by people who show up for one another, look out for their neighbors, and make room at the table. Our care for others starts close to home and extends far beyond.

  • The Game Grows

This team is an opportunity to grow the game in Maine and beyond. It exists to be a platform for people to see themselves represented in sport. On the pitch, in the stands, and in the communities that surround it. We are here to create more opportunities for the next generation of Mainers to play, to participate, to find their voice, to shape our sport and our communities for the better.

INAUGURAL SEASON KICKS OFF

MAY 2027

INTRO TO USL W LEAGUE

  • The team is set to begin play in May 2027, with the USL W League season running from May through July. Designed around the college calendar, the W League allows college-eligible players to compete in a high-level summer environment while maintaining NCAA eligibility. The regular season includes 5–6 home matches and the same number of away matches.

  • The USL W League is a pre-professional league designed primarily for emerging talent and elite collegiate players and who are continuing to develop toward the professional game.

The goal for USLW Maine is the same goal that’s guided Hearts of Pine at every step: to set a new benchmark for American soccer at this level. This means investing in the player experience and removing barriers wherever we can through high-level coaching, sports performance support, housing, travel, exposure and scouting visibility, community partnerships, internships, leadership opportunities, and mentorship. All while connecting players to one of the passionate communities of supporters in North America.

  • The full 2027 USL W League schedule and divisional alignment will be announced at a later date by the league. The league is organized around regional play, and fans expect the team to compete primarily against other clubs in the Northeast region during the May–July season.

The current Northeast Division includes AC Connecticut, Hartford Athletic, Hudson Valley Crusaders, New England Mutiny, and Vermont Green FC, though the final 2027 opponents will depend on league alignment for that season.

  • Maine Wildness will play its home matches at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland, Maine.
